Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah has said there has been an improvement in the Ghanaian comedy sector.
OB Amponsah said Ghanaian comedy is gradually gaining getting international attention and recognition.
Speaking on Joy News’ AM show with Roland Walker, the comedian
“I’ve been in the industry for about 5 years now and its quite well. Earlier when I started, it didn’t have this vibe around it but now comedy in Ghana has taken on and its gotten to the level that it gets patronage from Ghanaians which is really helpful.” he stated
The optometrist turned comedian stressed that the industry is still growing but he’s hopeful it’ll reach its peak soon.
“The industry is growing. Where it was earlier, its not there now but its a process. Earlier, someone will book you and you can’t even ask for transportation. But now you can ask for flight and accommodation and all that so its gotten to a point where we are catching up.” he added
OB was recently invited to performed at Nigerian comedian, Basket Mouth’s show, Lord of the Ribs.
