Rapper M.anifest has advised his colleague musicians against being under pressure to copy their Nigerian counterparts.
The ‘Tomorrow’ rapper indicated that despite the strides being made by Nigerian musicians globally, Ghanaian musicians must remain true to their indigenous music.
Speaking in an interview on 3FM’s Sunrise show, the two time VGMA rapper of the year winner however admitted that Nigerian musicians are more influential on the International scene.
“Nigerian musicians have a bigger influence on the world music scene, lets be honest. I don’t think Ghanaian musicians are sitting there saying they are making music for only the Ghanaian market but we are also not foolish to see that Nigerians are making more in roads in the world. You have to see your level to raise your level. There’ll be a time where we’ll get Billboards and Grammy nominations too.”The GodMC stated
M.anifest who recently released a 7 track album titled ‘The Gamble’ urged Ghanaian musicians to stay true to their craft.
” I think African inspired music is the way forward. We have to be careful with these things. There’s no particular musician who came up with what we do now. I think we should be led by what our people like and music that is led by us. Whatever you call it doesn’t matter.” M.anifest stressed
