
Ghanaian songstress, MzVee has disclosed that fellow singer, Efya acted as her psychologist when she was depressed.
The former Lynx Entertainment signee who for the first time revealed that she battled depression indicated that she struggled with the situation between 2017/2019.
Speaking in an interview with Berla Mundi on TV3’s New Day, the ‘Natural Girl’ hitmaker disclosed that multiple award winning songstress, Efya was instrumental in her ability to overcome her situation.
“I’ve always looked up to Efya. She’s become like a sister so she’s one person who really helped me in that situation. I opened up to her and we spoke a lot almost always during that period.” MzVee stated
Born Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, the talented songstress added that: ” I never saw a psychologist during that period so she was like my psychologist. I needed someone who could relate and she’s a female musician, she’s powerful and when we started talking I realized I wasn’t the only one in that situation because she had been through that phase.”
She further lamented over the lack of together of the female artistes in the industry.
“Its a problem because I realized that the females in the industry are not that together. Because there was really no one I could talk to who could relate to what I was feeling aside Efya.”
MzVee also acknowledged the support of her family throughout the period she was fighting depression as a major role in helping her overcome.
