Veteran Highlife musician, Rex Omar has attributed the relevance of the Ghanaian music industry to the efforts of Highlife musicians.

The ‘Abiba’ hitmaker opined that the Ghanaian music industry will be dead should Highlife musicians decide to stop recording music.

In a post on Facebook, Rex wrote: “Our music industry will be dead if we the Highlife singers stop releasing music”

His comments comes contrary to that of legendary music Producer, Zap Mallet, who in an interview in 2018 said the highlife music will die soon because it has not been paid attention and advertised to the younger generation.

Another Highlife great, Gyedu Blay Ambulley also in an earlier interview on Joy FM said the genre was gradually fading out due to the non support from the media.

The Highlife genre was one of the earliest music genres in the country but has recently taken a nosedive due to the emergence of other genres.
