Highlife musician, Bisa Kdei has said Afrobeats is a by product of Highlife.
The ‘Metanfo’ hitmaker noted that he fuses both genres because Afrobeats is a subset of Highlife which comes in a different tempo.
He made the statement while speaking to host of Joy News’ AM show, Roland Walker.
” Highlife gave birth to afrobeats. So whenever I sing and hear Afrobeats in it, its still highlife. It can be up tempo or mid tempo but its still highlife.” He explained
The multiple award winning musician further indicated that he is particular about his music production because he wants it to be timeless.
“Whenever I’m about to produce, I think about how it is going to sound in the next 10 years. I think about the fact that the kids that will be around in 10 years will like to listen to Bisa Kdei,” he said.
Bisa Kdei also announced that his maiden highlife festival dubbed “Bisafest” has been scheduled for December this year.
