I gambled to invest in Ghana movie industry – Abdul Salam

Ace Ghanaian movie producer, Abdul Salam Mumuni has said his investment in the movie industry was a gamble which has paid off.

According to the CEO of Venus Films production, he ventured into movie production when there was rarely a market for the industry.

He told MzGee he is glad his decision has paid off.

The film maker who was one of the five movie personalities including Jackie Appiah, Van Vicker and Roger Quartey who were honoured for their contribution to the movie industry at Golden Movie Awards said he’s happy his sacrifice has paid off.

” I’m so excited to be in the industry almost 20 years and so happy that they were able to recognise my work,” he said.

“Entertainment business back in the day was very bad but when I came in I realised that the Nigerian movies were doing well so I decided to invest more into the Ghanaian movies and I knew we were going to get there and today we’re there,” he added.

Abdul Salam has been credited for being behind the rise of top Ghanaian movie stars including Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Majid Michel, Van Vicker, among others.
