Multiple Award winning Ghanaian reggae/dancehall superstar, Stonebwoy has claimed that the monetization of award schemes is the cause of some feuds among musician.

The ‘Ololo’ hitmaker argued that most artistes spend a lot of money to win awards hence end up fighting colleagues who win ahead of them in a particular category.

The 2019 AFRIMA Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the year made this comment in a conversation with MzGee on ShowBuzz on 3FM.

” As we grow and get exposed to some of these things. Unfortunately, I sit on the bench were it pierces the most as a creative person. This thing goes deeper because I’m behind the scenes and I see what it takes to feed people with music and creativity meanwhile most often in our part of the world, most people die paupers in this industry,” He noted

“Reverse psychology makes it seem as if they are the ones helping us when its supposed to be a win-win situation.

“For instance, I get nominated for a certain category for a number of times and I have to use my platform that I worked hard for to urge my fans to vote. But by the time we get to the prize, we may not even win it because we are not the only ones in that category so this becomes like a lottery and we get caught up in that vibe and artistes tend to beef other artistes and its natural because it brings about a lot of hard feelings because everyone feels they did better”

Stonebwoy noted that he is hoping award schemes in the near future cancel the voting system and award deserving artistes in order to avoid feud among artistes.
