Ghanaian rapper, Jay so has disclosed that his biggest fanbase is the U.S keenly followed by the U.K.
The music producer indicated that Ghana, his home country is third on his biggest fanbase list.
Speaking to MzGee on ‘The Gist’, the Skillions record boss cited lack of music streaming platforms that can track users in Ghana as the problem.
“From our official platforms that I release my songs, I know that my number one fanbase is not Ghana. It’s the US. The recent album I put out, most of the numbers is the US, then the UK. Ghana is always third or fourth” he said.
He stated that this was because a lot of Ghanaians are not using foreign music apps to download music hence makes it difficult to measure the Ghanaian audience since there are hardly apps here that ensure that.
On how he makes money as a musician since he barely makes stage performances, the ‘making Tasha proud’ rapper said: “For a while now I don’t perform. So from the music, I make money off royalties and off production. I make money from every territory that my music is played. The UK, the US, South Africa”.
The Gist with MzGee airs on the Joynews Channel on MultiTV at 8:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
