Songstress Sister Afia has said her mother has advised her to dress sexy if she wants but with less skin exposure.
According to the ‘jeje’ hitmaker, her mother understands that what she wears during her stage performances is part of her art.
Speaking to Dr. Pounds on Hitz FM, Sista Afia stated that although her mother is not always enthused about her choice of outfits, she advises her to tone it down.
“…but she knows I’m a performer and advises me to dress sexy if I want to but with less skin exposure.” She noted
The issue of body exposure by some female showbiz personalities in Ghana has been a major point of discussion especially by some veteran musicians who have complained of the over sexualization of the industry.
One of such persons is veteran highlife musician, Akosua Agyapong who holds the view that female acts are concentrating more on what they wear than on their crafts.
However, Sister Afia says she completely disagrees with the assertion.
“We are not in those ages no more, this is like a different era, a different breeze. If we want to catch up [to the changing trends of the society] there are so many things we have a lot to do.” She said in response to Akosua Agyapong
