Nothing wrong with using Mahama’s name for comedy – DKB

Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney widely known as DKB has said he finds nothing wrong with using high profile political figures in the country including ex president Mahama for comic jokes.

The former Big Brother Africa Housemate indicated that that OB Amponsah was being creative when he used the name of ex President Mahama in his controversial jokes hence he did not find anything wrong with it.

The low moment, however, was when he made a joke about the meaning of the name Mahama – equating it to corruption.

After the show, he received a lot of flak for that joke. He consequently issued an apology.

Wading in the controversy, DKB indicated that the persons whose names are mentioned in such jokes take them lightly.

“Truthfully, with what we do even the people involved laugh at the jokes when they hear them. This is because the jokes are nothing personal. Those kind of jokes are called crude jokes. I however realized these jokes are for the advanced market.” He stated

He further urged Ghanaians to be on the look out for such comedy in the year 2020.

“Any big thing that happens this year, we’re going to make fun of it. We don’t care whether its the president or the layman or the cleaner. Anyone who messes up, we’ll laugh at him.” The outspoken comedian stressed
