Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame has explained the reason why he is being snubbed in the ‘Best rapper of year’ category in the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
According to the rapper, the VGMA board in recent times nominate artistes who rap only on hiphop beats for the category in his observation.
Speaking on Zylofon FM, Okyeame Kwame explained that he raps mainly on authentic Ghanaian rhythms hence the snub.
“Listen to all the songs that are chosen for the Best Rapper Category. It is not just rap. It is rap over Hip hop beat,” He said
“Before they select the Best rap, they look for Hip Hop beat and an amazing rap,” he added
Born Kwame Nsiah Apau, the 43 year old rapper in 2004 won the VGMA Artiste of the Year winner.
