The Bishop in a video posted on his Instagram page described as absurd how people can go about their normal activities without fear of contracting the virus until the issue of church service comes up, chastising the total disregard for the coronavirus preventive protocols by some institutions and individuals.
Bishop Agyin Asare also said it was unfair that the same law is applied to people differently when church activities continue to be restricted to curb the spread of the virus expressing fears that the church may collapse due to these restrictions.
In an editorial on Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere disagreed with some of the claims by the Bishop saying:
” so we don’t need to gather in the church and he was talking about some churches say they will not attend church and by the time they come the church has collapsed, don’t say that again Bishop, don’t say that again, the church of Jesus Christ will never collapse, it doesn’t collapse because people didn’t gather in a particular place to worship, does not how the church of Jesus Christ collapses, really, a church can collapse because people didn’t gather? when they are gathering everyday, when they are speaking in tongues all over the place, when they are meeting all over the place…”
But in a response, the administrative Bishop and General Secretary of the church, Apostle Raymond Acquah asked the journalist to apologize and desist from expressing ignorant views about matters he has not knowledgeable about:
“Paul your comment about Bishop Agyinasare was born out of pure ignorance.The sad thing about being an ignorant journalist is that, you give a false impression to the public that you know what you are saying when in actual fact you are completely empty and ignorant, basking in unbridled pride. An ignorant journalist is a real danger to our society. You should stay on subject matters where you are knowledgeable and competent. This one Paul you goofed big time. Very unfortunate how you are gradually throwing your credibility away. I’m sure some have told you that you are the best thing that happened to journalism in Ghana. Clearly something is gone amiss in our beloved country, the calculated attacks on churches, our Ministers of the Gospel and Christians is gradually becoming the norm. As I watched you over and over again, I got amazed at the impunity in your tone, your display of serious disrespect. You have suddenly become a big man and can talk rudely to our spiritual leaders without any modicum of respect. I hope you find it expedient to apologize to the revered Man of God and Ghanaians for inflicting such ignorance on us. You did it with so much confidence but trust me sir. You are completely wrong. You interpretation of scripture is laughable, your pastor will not be happy with you explanation of scripture. I’ve been told you were a member of the SU when you were young. I hope your faith in Christ is intact and that you’ve not backslided in the name of been a “big man”. Next time Paul play with your mates. Find your size and do this with them.Tv is a fine opportunity to educate people not to misinform.Let me leave you with two Scriptures!
