Legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician, Kojo Antwi has said politicians recognize musicians during elections.
The ‘Music Man’ as he is affectionately known as lamented on the lack of governmental support on the sector.
Speaking in an interview on 3FM’s Sunrise show, the multiple award winning singer said the sector has been neglected by successive governments.
” I don’t think government has paid enough attention to the industry. I think they’ve tried but I think we are punching them harder. Because every time it gets to elections, that is when politicians recognize us. Once the elections is over, then we are relegated to the background.” the ‘Adiepena’ crooner stated
He also advised the new generation of musicians to use their music to inspire their audience rather than the self centred lyrics that does not encourage anyone.
