Reggae/Dancehall artist, Iwan, has sent a stern warning to ace act, Stonebwoy and other musicians who failed to feature on his new album, despite repeated assurances to him, to stop acting as if they are happy he is back and yet are refusing to collaborate with him.
Iwan Suhuyini recently rebranded with the launch of his ninth (9th) studio album. This year marks the Lyrical Gunshots 10th anniversary since he released the First Album “My Time” under Bullhaus Entertainment, which became the first Awarded Reggae Dancehall Album in the history of Ghana Music Awards.
That album featured Hit songs like ‘Thanks and Praise’, ‘Who’s Bad’, ‘Jah Bless Me’ among others featuring Top Acts like Tinny, Okyeame Kwame, Black prophet, Efya.
Not much had been heard from him for sometime with some suggesting his career had fallen into oblivion.
Well, in an interview with MzGee on 3fm’s Showbuzz, Iwan expressed his displeasure over the fact that some colleaque musicians who rode on his wings into stardom have failed to help him get back on his feet.
“Some people have been so selfish because those days that we were on top, we spread our wings for other artists to also join in the whole movement, the fans have seen that alot of artiste now want it to be only them and they want to make it so because they feel insecure”
According to him, with the exception of Samini, “all the so-called A list dancehall artistes you see today” he toiled to provide them the platform to rise insisting that ‘there was a time that they didn’t have even 1000 cedis in their pocket” but he was resourceful enough to put up shows for them to showcase their craft.
He then narrowed it down by saying people saw the support he gave “Stonebwoy, Shatta wale and all of them”, but have you ever seen them put me on their shows.
“let me tell you something this album there is a song on it called ‘ayekoo’ which should have had stonebwoy on it but he didn’t do it, i sent him the song my voice and everything and just left some space eight bars, he didnt do it, he didnt give me any reason, up till now he hasnt called me to tell me anything”. He added
Iwan further explained how the failure to feature on this album delayed it’s release.
“I asked for a feature on a song which should be on an album and the album everybody knows when its coming out, 12 September, everybody knows, you yourself you know, i sent the song we were talking time to time: oh bro i go do am, till it got to two days, my album even delayed fans know and its because of stonebwoy and Sonni Balli, he also didn’t do his”
The obviously unhappy Iwan then stated categorically that he was only featuring Stonebwoy because his fans asked for it and proceeded to draw the line in the sand demanding Stonebwoy desist henceforth from extending pleasantries to him on social media.
“Stonebwoy, my first time i took an award he rushed me backstage and said Iwan i want to take a picture with your award and that picture is still on facebook, i am not somebody today to chase stonebwoy that i want you to feature me for popularity, no, it was the fans…So, he still likes my stuff on instagram i want to say it on this platform, Stonebwoy don’t ever like anything of mine on instagram.. like everything is right between me and you and you can’t help me”
He is however unfazed by these difficulties and is bent on reviving his career as he believes “People love Iwan, there is nothing that you can say or do to change their perception, i just had a very successful launch and we are jeering up for a nationwide tour”.
