Ghanaian movie producer, actor, and film director Eddie Nartey has accused organizers of the Golden Movies Awards of changing some award winners backstage during the awards night.
In an interview with MzGee on TV3, the prolific actor said that he was well informed by some very popular people about the changes in the award winners backstage when the ceremony was still underway. This according accounted his inability to a single that night despite having ten nominations.
“I was disappointed because the Golden Movie Awards is one of the credible awards I know and marked correct but I think if they should continuing doing what they did, they would not help the industry because, in the auditorium, they were changing names at the backstage. A lady beside went to present an award but she had there, they changed it at the backstage and a few people also called and said the same thing.”
He also accused the board of exhibiting favouritism because movies that featured some board members also won awards on the night.
“One thing I didn’t like is that some members on the board also starred in movies which won awards on the night and I believe it is wrong.”
