Ghanaian Reggae Star, Rocky Dawuni has been offering more education to musician Wendy Shay over her claim that getting nominated for the Grammy’s requires some form of connection.
The RuffTown Records signee recently sent a passionate appeal to the two-time Grammy nominee following news of his nomination at the 64th Grammy Awards. In a tweet, Wendy Shay asked “Chairman Rocky Dawuni Show us the Grammy way cos connection dey pass application.”
Rocky Dawuni, in an interview with MzGee, first dismissed the claim and insisted there is no connection in Grammy’s. he further said he didn’t have any such powers and that it all depends on the quality of the music.
To him, even though it is great she asked the question as a talented musician, Wendy Shay should rather concentrate on making good music that can translate across the world so that the academy will feel that music qualifies for the nomination.
He further explained record labels across the world ensure their releases fit the criteria for nomination and so their chances of getting selected improves.
