Hollywood actor Boris Kodjoe has disclosed that the 2019 festive season hosted about 400,000 people for the Year of Return initiative.

The actor cum model who is born to a Ghanaian father stated that the Year of Return had a massive boost for the Ghanaian economy.

Boris made this known while speaking on American Morning TV show, ‘The View’.

” Over 400,00 people came to Accra this year and it had a great economic impact which made it even more special because we wanted people to see that Africa is a great destination not just for tourism but also for business.” Boris stated

Boris whose ‘Full Circle’ initiative brought some of his Hollywood friends to Ghana added that his intention was to change the narrative of how Africa was perceived by the Western media.

 “This is the second year of our full circle festival. This was founded by my brother and I with the help of others. We wanted to change the narrative of how people see Africa. Media has painted Africa as a place of famine and war and its not true.” He added

He continued: “We wanted to show people the true side of Africa. “The 7 of the 10 fastest growing economy is in Africa. There’s tremendous diversity in Africa. There’s tremendous beauty of the food, the people and the music. We went for a week and hosted our guests in the amazing itinerary of visiting some of the most amazing heritage sites.”

The 2019 Year of Return saw several Hollywood stars throng the country.

Rapper, T.I. and his wife Tiny, Ludacris, Akin, Kenyan Hollywood star, Lupita Nyong’o, Hisham Tawfiq, Danny Glover, Samuel L. Jackson, Ludacris, Steve Harvey, Tina Knowles and Idris Elba were some of the stars that were in the country.
